After a week like IBA, Copenhagen already feels like ages ago. Now that things have quieted down, it’s a good moment to look back.
Crespect and Legora brought law firm leaders together to talk about adoption. Normally that means software. It didn’t stay there long.
Sebastian Peters talked about what happens after the partnership says yes, which is where some rollouts quietly stall. Aku Sorainen talked about something firms rarely say out loud: partner appraisal systems often hold innovation back, because only a few KPIs, if any, reward it. He has been studying this across 50 international firms since 2019.
You get what you measure, and most firms are still measuring time. Very few consider the broader set of operational signals that could drive modernization, and even fewer stop to ask where the value created by AI will end up. Passed on to clients as discounts? Lost to lower utilisation and overhead? Or reinvested in the firm’s growth?
Plenty of food for thought to take home from Copenhagen.
Thank you, Aku and Sebastian, for starting the conversation, and thank you to everyone who joined it.
